The first Black bishop to be appointed by the Catholic Church was supposed to settle in Utica, Tunisia but never reached his final destination. His story was the inspiration for Sammy Baloji’s new performance. Missa Utica retraces the priest’s journey and explores the history of the Kongo Kingdom in the 15th century and the evangelisation of Africa. We witness the initial contact and first diplomatic exchanges, alliances built and broken.
OLA MACIEJEWSKA
LOIE FULLER : Research
16/06/2018 — 17/06/2018
In Loie Fuller: Research, Ola Maciejewska continues to research the historic figure of dance.
She explores the famous costume specific to the serpentine dances of Loïe Fuller, the power of non-human objects in contact with bodies. With such a postiion, she proposes to step outside anthropocentrism, where like a sculptor with her Pygmalion, she lets herself be bowled over by the object, or rather by what emerges from this bilateral relation.

Rendez-vousTalk
John M Armleder in conversation with Bernard Blistène and Mai-Thu Perret
Tea Time #1
24/09/2020 — 25/09/2020
Drinking tea, artists talking to each other, friends talking amongst each other, including the public in the exchanges, creating a contact between art and everyday life. John M Armleder has been conceiving works of art, exhibitions and events as encounters ever since the 1960s. The work of art becomes both the object of an aesthetic experience and the occasion for a meeting and an exchange. Every day therefore, as part of the exhibition It Never Ends, Armleder talks, at tea time and in public, with his guests: artists, curators, friends and acquaintances, etc.

WORK-IN-PROGRESS
With Screws Alexander Vantournhout elaborates on his long-term research into the relationship between bodies and objects. How far does the autonomy of a human body extend? In a series of short microperformances Vantournhout explores the boundaries between the body and its surroundings, by attaching objects as prostheses to the performers, or by using an object as a co-performer.
