OH! RAGE

24/10/202025/10/2020

Calixto Neto’s Oh! Rage works on making minority bodies visible, and on remodelling their imaginaries. Based on a research into “peripheral” dances, in other words those that have been developed on the margins of institutional frameworks, his first solo focuses on the representation of black bodies, grasped at the crossroads between several emancipation discourses. He brings in the movements of Afropunk and Afrofuturisme, post-colonial research, especially covering Brazil, black studies and contemporary art.

Paper Lane

17/10/202018/10/2020

Paper Lane represents an act of resistance in the face of the digital revolution, the profusion of overabundance and high-speed and high-tech life, that destroy the silence necessary for meditation, introspection and reflection. This act is based on the observation of the need for a radical deceleration and is inspired by the book Alienation and Acceleration: Towards a Critical Theory of Late-Modern Temporality by the German sociologist and philosopher Hartmut Rosa.

Lecture on Nothing, John Cage

15/10/202016/10/2020

Non-conformist as he was, John Cage chose to turn a lecture about his music into a work that is not even a lecture (at the most, it keeps up appearances) and is not even about his music. "Nothing" is literally the most important subject, in a text in which Cage collects anecdotes, makes references to Zen Buddhism (which he was deeply involved in at the time) and above all plays an amusing game with the audience's expectations.

ECHO OVATIONS: HUMAN DELAYS FROM INNER SPACE

18/10/2020

Sound performance for intro-active audience in a large space

Celebrating what comes back to you, praising what leaves you:
in this inter- and intro-active sound performance Helbich invites the audience to a deep listening experience using sounds recorded in places with reverb tails as long as their history. Spread out over an entire floor of the former Citroen showrooms the listeners will be guided to the moment where sound disappears, wondering if it really ever left us.
